Honda supposedly is leasing 200 fuel cell cars in California. This is a pilot program to test the technology, like GM did with the EV1. I didn't realize the technology was this far along! I don't want one, but it's still interesting.

BMW's been testing them for a few years. they gave one to brad pitt and there's a team of techs that pretty much follow him around.
icelands public busses are also using it.

I'm curious to know if they have the sound and power of a car running off of gasoline. That's the only thing I would hate about them besides the fact that they are very explosive if you crash them.

I heard orlando has a honda tram running on hydrogen, and a dealership that sells the hydrogen fuel.

Supposedly it has 180hp and can go 280 miles on a tank of hydrogen. If it is the same size as a Civic, it would be more powerful. If it is the same as an Accord, it would match the base model pretty closely. As for safe, they say it's safe but that's what they said about the Hindenburg. If you read the site you will find their answers to how it was made safe, etc. This is supposedly a production vehicle, like the EV1 or the Chrysler Turbine car, that is being released in limited numbers to vet the technology. Like the other two, it is a lend or lease arrangement with no sales of the cars to private individuals as of yet. As for sound, well.. there really isn't much of any sound. It is essentially an electric car with no combustion happening, just a chemical reaction. I know the GM prototype that was shown everywhere a few years ago had a noisy air compressor that was needed to make it run, but I think Honda probably got rid of that.
