Proud of my youngest son

You have no idea if the parents gave any kind of punishment to their child. You also said it's your responsibility to punish your child, why wouldn't you let the legal system take care of it in that situation and if they end up in juvenile jail that's their punishment.Huh? Make up your mind which side you're on. I also don't believe they were bragging about ratting the other people out as it was just part of the story.A very important part. So yes you are the problem with society. How exactly? The kid learned his lesson and found other ways to stay out of trouble. He did? Sounds like he got nothing. You are a hypocrite by saying that he should have left the legal system deal with him but you say you would protect your kids and if a lesson needs to be taught to your kids it's your responsibility. You're twisting my words. At no time did I state that if my kids ran into legal trouble, the courts should turn their punishment over to me.
Maybe I'm too old to understand this thinking. Would I be paying for a Lawyer, sure would. If that Lawyer's advise is that my kid can testify against his co-accused and get off well, I have a problem with that. Maybe it's principles, maybe it's stupidity. Clearly you have your opinion. I was raised differently.

My husband and I have raised him right which is the good part. One is tell the truth which he did tell the cops to

It's great that the kid has found a new hobby, and appears to have chosen a new path. However, I feel he would have learned a greater lesson by accepting responsibility for his actions. Instead he has learned that if he points the finger, he saves his own skin. Wrong lesson in my book. He's 15 and was acting as a look out. Odds are these kids weren't dealing on a federal level. So he may have gotten probation and a fine, both of which would not be on his adult record. I think the scare of going to jail/court with a judge threatening your freedom would have a lasting effect and do more to teach him about accepting responsibility for his actions. In my opinion you need to learn these lessons while you're young. Everyone wants to do what is best for their kids, and sometimes that involves "tough parenting".

I think being arrested was probably enough to scare him.
