Hello, I signed up for this sight a while back while recovering from an accident. I haven't been on very much just some random research.

I had been down lately and feeling like I dont give a sh*t about anything. I decided to get my car from my aunts. It had been sitting since 1999. No one can remember what was wrong with the car but Im going to try and find out. So I get to my aunts, who thankfully let the car sit at her house, and I have to move a few tons of stuff. My unlce owns a steel business and his 10 acres is packed with good stuff.....that sometimes needs to be moved.

When we get it cleared and pulled out of the woods, 3 tires are holding air, WHAT? One was flat as expected but when I pumped it up, it held air too.

I get it loaded on the dolly, remove the DS and air up all the tires, head home and about 30 minutes into the trip I see smoke and know its a flat. Tore that tire to sh*t of course. The same one that started off flat. The Regal had a brand new spare that looked immaculate. Jacked the car up threw the new one on and 12 minutes later I was home haha. Very glad it didnt swing all around. 'I figured the work this early would make me more dedicated to the cars restoration.

It took about an hour to unload since I had removed the driveshaft and was working alone. and I couldnt sleep. I wanted to do this and that and this but I had to wait for some sunshine and no rain.

A lot of writing but I need to get it all out I guess. So here are some pics of my 79....nope its a 1980 (my mom always said it was a 79 since thats when it was built)

Here is the first pic. The driver fender is dented up from it being moved with a Lull (big *ss forklift)

As soon as I got in the truck from swapping the spare it started rainging. Made it home

Before and After power washing

Still wet^

After the power wash I cleaned the trunk and removed the rear bottom window trim and trunk plate. Trunk is pretty clean. Need to vaccum everything.

After I cleaned everything I put a battery in and was surprised lights, radio and temp control was working. I bumped the key and I saw the fan spin with ease, I ccranked it and it unbelievably sounded fine. Spray some started fluid in the carb twice times and she fired up, I sprayed a few more times then let her go and she continued to run just fine. I let it run for ten minutes then cut if off and back on 4 times...what the hell, just crazy. I grabbed the driveshaft and put it in, tried to fire it...nothing. Damn I was hoping to drive it. CAme back a few hours later and fired right up. Put it in gear and nothing haaa, theres the problem. No go

More pics to come.....

Nice! looks like a good project.. did you check the frame for rot?

Good save!
Nice to see a rescue, keep us updated.

Thanks Guys, I feel a while lot better seeing this in the driveway!

I expected rust every where but so far the places I expected are solid 😛

I haven't had the car completely up on jack stands yet to look over everything. The driver door has rust at the bottom and the driver rear window has a little. The truck is solid, the seal still looks good, battery trey is rusted all the way...of course haha. Over all not as bad as I expected. All of the trim looks good except the piece on the bottom of the body under the passenger door and fender. Driver fender is bent and Id like to repair it not replace it.

Ill try to get more pics today. Its been raining since I fixed the flat

1980 4.9 litre 301 v8 All original, either 164k or 264k miles

If my pro-stars from a Camaro fit the front 15x6 then I will need two rear pro-stars. Id prefer 15x10 but if I have to go with 15x8 I will.

I want to put something in it so I can drive it on the weekends, to car club meets and the track 6 times a year. Later on in life I may put the 301 back in. It was my Grandfathers (Pappy) car so I would like to keep as many original parts as possible.

I may be able to put another trans in it and drive it like it is....with a few hundred on the side for when this and that go

Still rainin...more to come the entire week. I vacumed it out with a dyson....better than any shop vac. I think I got it as clean as its going to get. need some interior. I dont know what year parts fit what.

Thinkin about what drivetrain to go with

Stock 301 with noisy cam~~~~~~~~~350 or 327 (350-450 hp)~~~~~~~~~~~~~LS drivetrain

love the regal looks good after the power wash stay motivated and bring her back to life, cant wait to see the finished product.

Thanks!

Even tho it ran I pulled the motor last night. A pulled the cam out of an 83 half ton and after wards I started working on the regal....work work work no bathroom breaks. I pulled the engine and trans by my self in about 8 hours. It would have been faster if i had the leveling thing for the engine lift. but I got that sumabitch!

This pic was takin before I got started on the buick. The body on the truck was perfect. I dented the door and got most of the dent out. Thats the truck thats gettin the cam swap. Pulled the stock cam out and she had 5 flat spots. I gotta repaint the white on the bottom of the door.
