They are the same length, but the mount is further back on the TH 200 4R case, which is why you need the other crossmember. As for the TH-400, it would depend on which one you had too. There are both short and long tailshaft variants of the TH 400 depending on their original application. The long shafts are easier to find as they were used in trucks and the cars that had 400's in them have long since ceased to be plentiful in junkyards.

the turbo 350 makes chevy/b.o.p trans also. and if you dont need overdrive the 350 is far more tougher and will outlive the 2004r anyday. plus way cheaper to build. my 86 brougham came with a 200 metric which was junk to start with....then i put in a 2004r from a 86 monte carlo...finally i got a real transmission in it the th350. my father is a auto mechanic/ transmission builder. im a mechanic also but i leave the transmission stuff to him, have built some th 400's and th 350's with a lil help from him. he worked at the gm dealer from 1967 to 1990 , also driven a lot of new muscle cars off the car hauler...you have to spend twice the amount of money on a 2004r or 700r4 for a performance transmission than you would to equal a 350 or 400. but of course no overdrive. its all in what ya like...spend it if ya got it lol. the cross member from the 2004r will work with the 350 ...driveshaft also...just have to angle the cross member to a different set of holes .if anyone needs some short or long shaft th 350's gottem by the truckload for $40.00 each but will need rebuilds.

the 200-4r definately does NOT mate to the th350 crossmember ... I've put a 200-4r in my 81 (required an additional adapter to lengthen the driver's side of the frame). I can post pix of the th350 and the 200-4r crossmembers (they aren't even close in shape)
