anyone got good directions on how to do this. i have the spread bore to square bore adaptor with a clear fuel filter and just in case a dual throttle return spring. the car i am putting on is an Edelbrock 600cfm non-egr with mechanical secondaries and electric choke.

need to no what vacuum gets blocked off and where the fuel goes into the Edelbrock. any stuff like that would like to do this today

First off you need an hei distributor. The factory computer controlled one works with the carb. If you only replace te carb, you'll have no timing advance and it won't run right. You also need a tourque convertor lockup solenoid, otherwise it won't lockup. Then if you have a/c you need something to trigger the a/c compressor to cut out at wot.
Lastly, why would you go from a spreadbore designed for milage, and tunable for performance to a squarebore fuel dumper that will simply drown your 307 with unneeded fuel and hurt your mpg without any power increase?

In addition to the fact that the E-brock carb is non-computerized and thus negates the performance of the distributor, as noted above, you DO realize that 1) you are replacing a 750 CFM Q-jet with a 600 CFM carb and 2) the square-to-spreadbore adapter distrupts flow and partly negates any improvement you might expect, right?

Careful of the cheap HEI distributors, the have many issues.

The least expensive way is to have your carb rebuilt again, then you don't have to buy a new distributor.

Were you rebuilding it yourself, or are you having a shop do it? A rebuild kit is anywhere from 25-50 bucks. Find someone who's got a good rep in your area for doing carbs. Cheaper than a new edelbrock, a new distributor, and a lot less headaches when trying to do mods to make everything else work.

I think the problem is that there is not many people that know how to properly rebuild the electronic carbs. They also need some special tools that not many people have.

Agreed. That's why I think he should try to find a carb shop, or a dealership that still has the tools. The electronic carbs are not a rebuild project for the novice...and if he had "some guy" doing it the last two times, this may be why it still runs like crap.
