Q-jet on a square bore Edelbrock manifold?

Update: I bought a Jet Stage 2 Qjet with a spacer/adapter.

I plan on hooking up the vapor canister as well. Everything is still there the tubes are just wrapped up around the canister. I broke out the manual and it appears the "Purge" line connects to the PVC valve. The other lines are for vacuum, the fuel line from the carb and fuel line to the tank.

I am not sure but I might need a new line from the pump to the carb since the one I have is only long enough to go from the pump to the fuel filter of the Edelbrock hard line with the banjo fitting.

i could go back and find the issue of car craft that did a big test on many different spacers...all added power Vs no spacer at all though some did way better than others.

The 4 hole adapters work fine but the open adapters, as mentioned above screw up the airflow, mess with tip in and generally don't work well.

Can this be done? I want the better mileage I am not getting with my Edelbrock 1406. Also I think having the ability to hook up my vapor lines again will help with the gas smell and further increase my mileage by returning unburned fuel instead of it evaporating into nowhere. Is this a wise set up? Further down the road I MAY use the Gm Performance spread bore Vortec manifold with EGR which having a Q-jet would also have the ability to use. But for now I want a carb that does not run like crap and that I can adjust using the directions in my 1980 Cutlass manual.

I found several adapters and I was wondering if these would work

Mounts 4-bbl Rochester Quadrajet carburetors to square-bore, single-plane manifolds.

I have a PERFORMER EPS VORTEC 27164 (idle-5500 rpm)
Now available for small-block Chevys with Vortec or Edelbrock E-Tec cylinder heads, the Performer EPS dual-plane manifold is optimized to deliver superior performance with Edelbrock square-bore Performer Series or Thunder Series AVS carburetors. The runner design is "tuned" for peak torque around 3500 rpm on a 350-inch engine and it?s ideal for power from off- idle to 5500 rpm. Dyno tests showed gains averaging 5+ ft/lbs. of torque from 3000 to 4500 rpm for more performance where you need it most. Match with a dependable Edelbrock square-bore carburetor for maximum performance gains. Will not fit under stock Corvette hood.

So for what I'm looking to do is it best for me to go with a 650cfm thunder series carb with edelbrock dual plane intake or Quadrajet and a Edelbrock dual plane intake all I want is like everybody else great gas and power when I need it.

Not to be a PITA, but what did you do with the stock manifold? Despite what everyone else may say, they work just fine with what you are trying to do. Or did I miss something? (not unheard of lol)

The 4 hole adapter works better, it gives way better idle and off throttle response as well as mpg. In fact when going the other way, square carb to spread manifold, Edelbrock says and I found out that their carbs do not perform correctly without it.

Well im just going to get the Q-Jet carb and the Edelbrock Performer Q-Jet intake 7104 and call it a day so i dont have to be messing around with adapters and stuff and they said ill get great fuel mileage and good power when i need it.So maybe you might want to go that route.

Ok so wait....

I have a Qjet and want to mount on a E-brock Square bore manifold. I already bought the open style Jegs adapter. Should I get the E-brock one with the holes instead?

Yes, if you want proper idle, off idle response, drive ability and gas mileage.
