I have a 1981 Iraqi Malibu that I'm trying to sell. I received an e-mail from a prospective buyer yesterday, who said that he had heard that the Iraqi cars were built with police package (9C1) frames in them. He said that the 9C1 RPO code would be on the RPO label in the trunk to confirm this. Unfortunately, the RPO code label on the car I have is missing, so I can't verify this one way or the other. Does anyone here know if there are any differences between a standard Malibu passenger car frame, and the frame for a 9C1 car (extra bracing, more body mounts, body mounts in different locations, etc), and if there is any way to visually identify any differences to confirm this? Regardless of whether or not this guy buys the car, I'd like to know, as it would be something interesting to know about these cars, and a possible selling feature. Thanks in advance.

If you are talking about a 4 door by "Iraqi" very few were the 9C1 police package. Your car won't have the RPO code in the trunk, that didn't start until 84 in the US prob later for Canadian cars. You will have to find the build sheet for tht info.
The 9C1 package would have had thicker sway bars and stiffer springs and possibly a faster steering box.

Thanks for your help. I thought that the 9C1 package was just that-a package, and that if there is a heavier frame, then that is a part of the package. Having said that though, I know that GM did some unusual things over the years, so right now, I can't say that it didn't happen, until I can do some more research.
