Good Day!

Last fall, on my 1979 Monte Carlo, I installed a 1 piece Fel-Pro PermaDry gasket on my oil pan. I am now paying "Stupid Tax." While doing the install I tried to "clean up" the extra RTV Gasket gunk along the bottom of the timing chain cover. I have created a leak at the bottom of my timing chain cover. I figured while I was having to tear this thing apart I'd upgrade to a Proform 141-218 cover and replace the water pump. As I don't want to do this again any time soon, I'm asking for advice. I believe I'll have to drop the front of the oil pan to fix this. Will I be able to reuse the Fel-Pro PermaDry oil pan gasket? I did as the instructions asked and put a dab of RTV in the bearing cap corners when I did the install. Which RTV should I use on the timing chain cover? Water pump gaskets? Ultra Black? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Russ
