ma.
So my car needs an alignment bad but i cant see having it done twice since im putting the v8 with new springs in it soon.anybody have a car that handles good that could measure thier tie rods for me?i put a quick ratio box in it yesterday and it made the handling worse. It darts side to side over bumps.with the new box being alot stiffer than the grandma luxury box its a pita to drive it

id like to get it to be bearable for a month or two.

I had to do that once. First I got the steering wheel centered and the Pitman shaft on the high point. Then I used the rear wheels as a reference and placed 2x4's alongside them and adjusted the tie rods until the fronts "looked" OK and measured from the insides of the rims that they were parallel . Then I added some toe-in, whatever the spec was, 3/4" or something. It still wandered a bit but was bearable until I could get it to a real alignment shop.

Good job. I wish I knew how to get a GOOD alignment at home, but I have failed miserably to get it perfect. My buddy swears he can , but his cars are such shitboxes, he'd never know.
