DIY Oil Idiot Light Circuit

That was how the circuit worked in my V6 w/ idiot lights. With factory gauges, the choke was its own circuit, independent of the oil switch.

I forgot your GP originally had the 231 which used the heater relay. But the basic concept is the oil light & gauge with choke light both used the same switch for the tell tale light with the only difference being the color of the wire going to the bulb, tan for oil light & green/white for choke/oil light. Keep in mind this is the Chevy engine set up.

Here's the only ready to go diagram I have ready & it's from my '80 Chevy wire diagram book. UF7/U14 is the gauge option RPO's.
