quick question OLDS 5A heads

Look over the center exhaust ports.. it looks like they say 397 742. If so, that's a 1969 350 head. Use them on your 403 😊
 
Yes they would bump up the compression a little but I would have to drill the head stud holes to 1/2 inch and open up the alignment dowel holes

And since they need a rebuild anyway might as well do all the bells and whistle to them.

You can really confuse them and tell them it is a 307. Rebuild them, get the shop to drill out the bolt holes and 2" or 2.07" and 1.625" valves with the bowls opened. Your 2004R better have a billet forward drum or all neutral gears will be in your future.
 
On the 69 350 heads the 5 is small and the A is large.
307 heads the 5 is the same size as the A

ok maybe the size close but the script is different the number and the letter on your pic.
On my pic the script is the same for both.
