If you want to run a higher amp alternator such as a 140 amp you will need an adapter plug (GM PN 12083462) and a 140 amp alternator from a
93-96 5.7L V8 Caprice, Impala SS, Roadmaster or Fleetwood
or any 92-95 3.8L V6 Silhouette, Trans Sport or Lumina Minivan
(GM PN 10463338, AC-Delco part number 321-594)

good info hurst, just jotted it all down 😀

Now this is just me but here is what i would do,

1. get one of the larger stock alternators that you can get
2. put a second battery in back with the subs
3. get a battery isolater, so that the alt. charges both batterys, but the subs can only run on the second battery, and everything else can only run on the first battery.
If you do that, then you wont have any dimming of your lights, and your subs will never run your battery so dead that it wont start.
(this might be cheaper then some of the "large" alternators)
Remember your amp should run off a battery not your alternator.

As far as alternaters go, i recomend the bosch alternaters off of older volkswagons (like my 89 vw golf) the stock alternater for mine has a 95 amp max output, uses 1 wire to hookup, starts charging at an idle, and the voltage regulator and brushes are one unit and held in by 2 screws and can be changed without removing the alternater from the motor

Also how many watts is your amp running.

^^^ I second this, you need an extra battery or will have electrical problems in the future.
