My daily driver is a '95 Caprice 9C1 with a Sport Package 2.5:1 ratio power steering gear box. The seal in the gear box blew and it's almost literally been leaking fluid faster than I can fill it, so I bought a seal kit for it and the car has been off the road for about a week now while I waited for it to arrive... but I want to get it back on the road ASAP so I might buy a reman. Gear Box for it from RockAuto.com as well.
But instead of sending back the core, I was wondering what it would take to rebuild the one that's in there now, and put it into my '80 Century Wagon. It'd definitely be nice to have tighter steering instead of the sloppy granny ratio gear box that's in there. I'm also pretty sure it's not a direct bolt-in considering the chassis are different, and they're 15 years apart in age.
Anybody done something like this before?
