Radiator supports

I have an Alum and a steel sample in my possession to reproduce.

Obviously we know the advantages of cost and weight savings, but whom here would prefer which and why?

I see alum too expensive. I see steel more affordable.

How much would ou actually save going from a steel support to aluminum :?: 1lbs :?: 2lbs :?:

It's not worth it to pay triple the money for aluminum

Reproduce to sell is there a market for this? There are lots of good used oem rad supports for sale cheep made of steel. The alum core supports are harder to find but they are out there for around $25 to $350. Weight 22lb steal 12lb alum

I wasn't aware if he was talking about the core support. I was just thinking the radiator support/hold down

Cut to the chase and produce Aluminum supports, core supports on G's don't rot as often as the old 68-77 cars and they are much easier to find clean and in steel, plus the weight savings upgrade is awesome.
Everyone want's an affordable Aluminum core support, perhaps one that is around $150 to $200 max.
Otherwise they won't sell and you'll be out money... I just don't every see anyone looking for a steel core support.

I'd only buy if it matched the stock core support to where you couldn't tell the difference... but that's me, I only use GM parts.

How about aluminum hoods for Cutlasses stamped to be identical to the factory hoods

Are you talking about factory reproduction type parts or light weight tubular type parts??

This stuff is going to look exactly alike. But i'll warn you. These are not GM original parts.

But then the hoods would not be so rare and such a cool part.

I'd rather see a light weight tubular OEM like support. I've seen the others but you have to weld up your own mounts to put your intercooler, radiator etc. on it. I'm talking like stock size radiator and all correct mounting points on a light support. The 10lb savings is awesome but it's the same exact piece just in aluminum. Surely there are parts that can be trimmed to save even more weight.

Just a thought

I would like to see an aluminum cutlass hood too. But I would go with the aluminum core support just to many steel ones in the local boneyards.
