can someone break down about radiators, what's better 2 or 3 row and also i need to get a new one so i wanna get radiator and fan combo i was thinking off ebay champion i think it was for like 289$ supposedly made real well, welded. just curious what kind you fellas are using maybe my route is a dumb idea and you peoples have cheaper set up. thanks

there's a few guys using the Champion rads. I'd go with a 3 core, easier to deal with a too cool than a too warm situation and that price for the rad and fan sounds good. Make sure it has the transmission cooler if you running an automatic

i'd be getting an aftermarket trans cooler because the way they make those rads they have solid aluminum plugs

GM put the cooler in the rad for a reason, it heats up the transmission lubricant quicker and helps to keep it at the proper temp

I have a champion 3 row and using an aftermarket transmission cooler with an OEM clutch fan. This was with my high compression 350 and a high stall converter so it did heat up quite a but on the street, but for a 9.5-10.5 compression motor and max stall of 2800 it should work great on the street.

I've also heard F-body radiators fit g bodies as well, plus they come in as 4 core brass and copper units.

ok.. so what type of rads you guys have.. that has the trans cooler built in. trying not to spend over $300 max i have budget of like 1500 max, but have a lot to get such as : carb, distributor, radiator, rust proofing, battery, gauges, rear shocks springs, body mounts

Heres what I use....not the best...but a lifetime warranty is hard to beat and its cheap! keeps the motor cool too.

Thanks...the shroud is actually a prototype that I fabbed up and the top plate came from Gbodyparts.com (wished I had used a stock top plate instead, but it works)...which works fine, but isnt really strong enough to last long, its too light and rattles a little when the fan is on. I plan to use it to make one out of aluminum sheet or SS, when I get the money ...lol. The set up works well for a DD. Id probably have gone with two fans and a bigger radiator if the motor was modded.

I have a 4 core champion with 2 12" elec fans in a custom shroud. The rad has the cooler fittings. Call your order in they usually cut a deal on shipping. Fit and finish is great. Can't attest to the cooling as I haven't run the motor yet.
