got to do a radio upgrade, looking for some options on what I can do, on my 88 monte SS a 2002 S10 stereo with cd player fit perfectly, plug and play with 1 simple harness plug. what can be done with the 78 cutlass ? what radio should I look for to do a swap ? really don't want to hack up the original wires

If you want the factory look I would go with the newer Delco set up. You can add amplifiers and an Aux input jack if you want. These really sound and look good. I run one of these in my 442 and am very happy with it. IMO, anything aftermarket will make your G body hacked up. GM got it right when they designed these units.

any idea what car/cars a delco unit like that comes from? also any pics of it installed in your 442? Thanks in advance.

They sell conversion connectors that mate up your old connectors to the newer GM radios. Very convenient, and not expensive. Plug and play. If you install one of the newer GM 1.5 Din radios ( like above), obtain a radio bezel for an '85 up montecarlo for a factory look and fit (assuming you have one with two radio knobs with shafts- if I'm wrong, sorry)

anyone know where to get the conversion connectors ? or part # yes I do have the radio with two knobs, I should have a couple of the monte carlo Bezel's in the garage.

Here's one I found doing a quick Google search. I'm sure if you invest a litle time searching, you can probably beat the price. Notice the antenna adapter. The newer radios have a different size antenna input.

Don't the Monte and Cutlass have the same harness? So just get a Monte bezel and do the same conversion.
