My favorite for 1963 would have been the Jetfire. Turbocharged 215 aluminum V8 in a midsize car. Reliable? well... probably not. However, I am sure I could make it work much better using modern materials. After all, that engine was used by Rover until 2004 or so, so modern combustion chamber heads are bound to exist. Not to mention, modern turbos and a retrofit EFI.
