I reuse bolts all the time, in a street engine it's no biggie. My '80 Chevy manual says "all small blocks- rod caps- 45 foot pounds".

Putting her in now. Should be starting her up for the first time in a few hours.
I'll let ya know how it goes.

Wish me luck.

Well, she started right up. Ran good all through cam break in.
I noticed though that the MC solenoid isn't working, and the carb is spitting gas out of a hole on top of the carb.
Didn't have either problem before. Gonna start chasing down gremlins tomorrow I guess.
1 step forward....

Congrats on the fire up! Always satisfying to see something you assembled yourself run well. The gas out the carb sounds like a float issue, and if so the flooding would overwhelm the MC solenoid.

Yeah, I pulled the carb off, and took it apart. Didn't see anything wrong really other than that little TINY clip that connects the float needle to the float arm was floating in the bowl. I put it back on. Float was adjusted fine. Blew it all out, put it back together and it works fine.
Whatever it was I managed to fix it without knowing it.

So dang cool to rebuild an engine, and fire it up knowing I did it myself. It's a dinky engine, but sounds SUPER healthy.
No vibration like it used to have.

Now, to try to put back on the power steering pump, and A/C compressor that is a MAZE of brackets, nuts, and bolts.
I should have taken pictures of that, and I KNEW it.
