what would be perfect balance springs for daily driver.. would settle for 1" drop and want a ride way better then stock not to stiff but not to soft. i'm asking this for the rear though

if you want to do it the cheap way...take a set of WAGON springs and cut them, or a set of fbody (camaro, firebird) and put them in the rear...drop over a inch and they are stiffer

As far as I know, both the tops and bottoms of the rear springs are the same... How did you bolt it back in place? Or is it just sitting in there?

bolt?.....springs arnt bolted in, they sit freely un the cups, and the upper and lover control arms, and shocks keep them in place

G-body rear springs are bolted in at the top, with a small metal collar that fits in the ear at the end, and they sit freely on a mount on the axle tube.

I don't think any of mine were bolted in. But as far as using f-body springs or cutting your originals, I've heard you can use the isolators from the f-body to make them work.

Ive worked on my cars and several dirt track G-bodies and have never seen the springs bolted in

The untouched, low mile '84 Monte SS we had at work had the rear springs bolted in. I kept the pieces when we put airride in it. Unfortunately I stuffed them along with a ton of other parts in the back of my wagon when I put it in storage, so I can't take a picture to show them. It is a small dish with a collar around it that fits into the ear on the spring, and a bolt goes through it and the frame to hold it in place. Somebody else better speak up so I don't sound crazy! My 442 had them as well, maybe it's just an F41 thing?
