Looking to see if any knows anythng about the OE "U" shaped rear sway bay that I pulled out of a junked '79 Hurst Olds back in the late '90s. I see a lot of the ones that most A/G bodies use, but not any like mine. I personally like it better since it's thicker & feels like a better ride & handling. Of the few I have seen on cars, they all have been on an Olds. Was this an Olds part or did all 4 divisions use it too?

I believe there were two different rear sway bars used on the gbody cars, although I always thought the one you're describing was mainly used on the Monte SS's, but I could be wrong. I have the thicker u-shaped bar on mine, it was pulled from an SS. I looked under a 87 GP last year at the pull a part and it had a slightly smaller rear sway bar than the Monte one I have. On a side note, I hope you pulled more than just the sway bar off that car, but being that long ago, you probably didn't think much of it.

The 'U' bar just needs four bolts and some spacers in the lower control arms. If you did not grab the tin ones, you can easily fab some from tubing.

The car was pretty much roached when I got the sway bar off it & I could of saved it. For a better description of the bar, it doesn't contour the rear end pumpkin like the SS cars used. Gotta measure & take a pic to post it.
