I went to a new Curt hitch on my 2500 suburban and I used the factory bracket. Its not pretty but I trimmed a notch so it seats against the square tube of the hitch and used 2 self tapping screws attach it.
Yeah, I use a 4 foot extension rated at 12k. I was apprehensive about going this route at first, but after 4 or 5 people told me it works fine with a dually I bit the bullet and it drives just fine like this. Unless you try using a Curt hitch.

Good to know Curt hitches are junk. I mostly see Reese and will go that route. I need one for my Challenger GT, never added one, supposedly a direct bolt on. I also want a direct wiring adapter. I will only be pulling a 1000 pound boat, is a Class 3 worth it over a Class 2? I am also want a 18" extension minimum, don't want the back end of the Challenger dipping in the water. Yeah the wiring half hangs down on my Dakota, had a nice pop in for a 7 pin, my boat was a 4 pin and the 7 pin plug was screwed so now it looks like sh*t. I need it nice and tucked up on my Challenger for sure.
