Hi I have a 1982 Cutlass with severely dated set of stock wheels, I think they're called SSIII's. I wasn't sure if I should just strip and repaint them, or just find another set and just sell these. I've only got one good trim ring, BTW. Any input is great, thanks
I think that ultimately, that's a decision that should be made by you and you alone. A great many people I see a lot, are always asking somebody else "what should I do"?. I think if you like that style of wheel, then by all means, restore them and put them back to the original color paint and they will look great. These SSII's were on mine and I replaced mine with SSIII's from a 85-87 442. The SSIII's are very hard to find in, nice to excellent condition and will nowadays cost you accordingly. It doesn't take much to restore these wheels to glory. take the trim clips off and sandblast them good to get a smooth surface, prime and paint to original or desired color and put a clear on them, get another set of beauty rings and WALA, new wheels for really cheap money. Just takes a little money, effort and time. In the end, only you know what you really wanna do. Good Luck! keep us posted.
