I was talking with my friend about remote start and it made me wonder how would one work with a carbed engine?? I pump the gas when I start my car.

I remember somebody had an idea to use one of those remote operated electric trunk poppers and attach it to the throttle linkage. When your ready to start it you just hit the button a few times and your good to go.

If you can play Gameboy, you can start your car.
Any kind of remote operated solenoid could be made to work if it's strong enough to work against the throttle springs. You could rev the car without being next to it. 8)
On a cold day when you need to let the car warm up while you're getting ready for work, you'd have to go to the window, "hit the gas" a couple times, "crank it" with the remote starter, see/listen if it's starting, and maybe give the gas a couple more hits if it sounds/looks like it's dying. So yea, you're basically taking a cold start and putting it in video game format.
That's the thing with fuel injection. It turns the engine on without you and it can keep it on without you. You could make a remote starter work with a carb. It just won't be as "fire and forget" as it would with fuel injection.
Also, keep it away from your passengers. You wouldn't want anyone else pressing the button and "flooring it" while you're driving.

 that gives me ideas to a buddy of mines pusstang,

Then if you got a selenoid for the brake and shifter, you could just make it a life size R/C car.

And I could definitely see a few law suits spurring from this issue if someone ever tried to market this idea.

It can be done. The "older" Remote starts had Carb versions. basically you need a strong solenoid that pulls throttle open once to squirt fuel and set the high idle. This can be accomplished in multiple ways depending on which remote kit you get.

I know of a shop that was working on a carbureted car that had a remote starter. Only problem was that it also had a manual trans. You can guess what happened- it started and pinned my friend against the wall. There was HELL to pay!

and how do you tap the pedal after it's running a few minutes to drop the fast idle cam down to the next level

Mark, a friend of mine who sells and installs remote starters refuses to do manual cars...

Smart friend. WOW, talk about a negligence lawsuit.

Almost all remote starter kits have a disclaimer that not for manual transmission vehicles.
