Hello all,

i have a 1986 Grand Prix "Brougham" and i'm trying to remove the instrument panel "cover" from it.

the problem is that it's a single big piece of molded plastic and it gets stuck in the steering column. there's a bulge on it for the shifter that the panel gets stuck on

i've tried removing the steering wheel in the hope i'd be able to move the column forward a bit but no luck from that angle. i got down to the "click wheel" that's on top of the plastic flasher cams and i don't see any way to get any lower than that

any other tricks i should be aware of? im pretty much stuck here now

your options:

1) shift out of park down enough to get it out and put it back in P again
2) drop the kick panel (which you had to do anyway) and loosen the 2 bolts holding the column up so it drops enough.
3) use your imagination 😀 it will come out as is if you angle it just right 😀

thanks, that did it. it was those 2 bolts way under it that i didn't see

I know your pain! Someone told me this like a year and half AFTER I struggled getting that piece off. lol
