Removing Heater

The non a/c swap involves swapping out the entire heater assembly, including removal of the dash, which is not as hard as it sounds. It honestly takes only a few hours to do.

Depending on the sources available to you, you can get your hands on a complete non a/c set-up from anywhere from free to $250.

Complete is very important, as it's a huge pain in the *ss to try and track down individual pieces.

well as of last night my dash is out haha. i can't spend that kinda money right now especially because its not a necessity. thats for the advice though, its definetly a consideration for down the road.

Your gonna wanna kick yourself in the nuts! HAHA, Be sure to store the stuff you take out in a safe spot, and don't even think about throwing it away. You will eventually miss having the heater, just wait til that freak rain storm and your 2 hours from home  . I only say this because I am there  , I threw my stuff away a couple years ago and now want my heater back! haha.

keep in mind removing the heater box, means no heat, no defrost, no A/C .... no ventalation of ANY type (aside from rolling your windows down). As stated, unless he car is strip ONLY. Leave it as is or fix the noise ... likely just the blower motor. It's also a b*tch to pull that stuff out and keep it in one piece.

I took my heater-A/C box out and all my vents and I love it. I had a buddy make a plate for the giant hole in the firewall and it looks fantastic. The ONLY time I wish I had A/C is when it rains and it is hot outside. I never really miss the heat, just put my window up if it chilly outside. My Regal is also my only form of transportation so I do drive year round, as far as driving in freezing temperatures, still not bad (leave your coat on, not sure who takes their coats off in a car anyway)

I hardly ever wear a coat. Just a jacket. When it was in the 20s in NC this past winter I wouldn't have been too happy w/o a heater!

well i don't have a/c after the engine was swapped anyway. looks like i'm not gonna get any girls haha. i think i'm gonna keep the box at least for ventilation

I can't say I regret taking mine out. I did it in my last Malibu also which was the only car I owned at the time. I drove it to work half way in to December. I live in NW Ohio so it does get pretty cold. I also worked third shift, so usually when I would be leaving work I would have ice ont he outside AND inside of the window. I just scraped it off both sides and sometimes had to continue to scrape the inside from my breath on the drive home. At least it was only a 1o minute drive. I'd say that is prolly about as bad as you would want it to get but still doable. I did get another car to drive, but that was mostly because I didnt want the Bu in the salt.

I got stuck in some downpours too but the ice was worse. That's just my opinion.
