Whats the easiest way to remove the 3 bolts that had the motor mount frames down..I got 1 of the 3 bolts off but the other two i cant seem to stick a long enough open end wrench to hold the other bolts...by the way this is on a 81 chevy monte carlo with chevy v6

you can get in there with a wobble extension though the opening for your lower control arm. If the control arm is removed it's alot easier but not necessary. I remove the old bolts with a plasma cutter to make it easy. I replaced the bolts with flanged locking bolts and nuts with the bolts passing up through the frame and mount so it made it easy to tighten as the locked into the frame and you don't have to put a wrench on it to tighten the flanged locking nut..

A very twisty wrench can get in there, or from under the lower control arm if it's out. Once in desperation I cut an access hole in the front of the frame and it made that job super simple.

Been a while since I removed mine, but I seem to remember weasling in there from the under side of the car, with a long entension, swivel, and shallow socket. I'm sure I still have some of the bolts/nuts in my crosmember that fell off the socket, lol. Get a friend to loosen the top side for you while you hold the bottom. Or get a longer wrench, it's probably easier.

** looks like others have used that method too haha.

What these guys ^^^^^ said. I think the front one can be reached through the fuel line hole with a box end of a wrench, the other two underneath with an extension and socket. Haven't done it in awhile but it's not difficult at all.

well since your just removing just grind the bolts off make your life easy. like everyone else said when you go to put new or different ones on you can manuveur yourself through the lower control arm opening with the control arm still on. id say use some sort of lock washer of choice so you can tighten them up good because it can be tough to stay on the bolt with an extension

i doubt i will be able to reach anything under the frame to get to the bolts...what sort of tool would I use to grind the 4 bolts off? I thought this would be a easy backyard swap until i ran into the mounts. I have no funds for a plasma cutter

you can get to the bolts from the opening for the lower control arm with one of these wobble extensions..if you want to cut the nuts you either grind them or drill through one side of the nut so it splits

If you can't get the original bolts out, how do you expect to get new ones back in?

Get a set of swiveling extentions like the ones pictured above in pontiacgp's post and just do it.

The trick is to hold the bolt with the socket from underneath and loosen it from above.
If you turn the bolt from underneath, the socket will just roll off the bolt, resulting in endless frustration and swearing.
