So, as the title says, I replaced my gas tank today. I bought it, and new straps, on eBay a year or two ago, and since I have it at my home now, I can work on it a little. The tank was bought from Accela Auto Parts, for $100 and a little change, shipped. I am very happy with the fit and construction, from installing it anyway.I have installed it loosely, as I haven't bought the new sending unit yet, or new hoses that connect the sending unit to the hard lines. Here are some pix of the new, and old. The old was structurally fine, I just figured the rest of the fuel system is going to be new (when I get the motor swapped in; I already have the parts), and the price was good on this unit, so I bought it.
If anyone wants the old one to clean up/out and are local to me (37843, east Tennessee) they can have it.

I see no problems removing this one to add the new sending unit and hoses. This is the first time I have dropped/installed a gas tank, and was simple. Good Saturday project. Took about 2 hours taking my time.

dropping a gas tank is easy, unless its 1/2 full, and you dropped it 7 times because the mother f)@#$(%*&in sending unit is wrong.

also if ya can get them use the rubber straps to keep the tank from rubbing on the straps, or if yer ghetto like me buy some bicycle tire innertubes and cut the valve out and thread the straps through.
