Looking for a replacement air cleaner vacuum actuator on a 1986 Olds 307. There are new ones out there from the usual aftermarket parts vendors for the 1968-1972 era, but no conclusive evidence that they would work or be the same size.

GM had no serviceable unit, only the whole air cleaner when those were available (probably not long after 1990), or so I was told. Have a 442 dual snorkel with a stuck actuator I'd like to restore.

You were told wrong.

Group 3.415 GM p/n 8994333, Motor, Vacuum, Air Cleaner. ACDelco part. All G-body 307.

Borg Warner has them under p/n EC508. I believe BW made them for Delco because the pod and cover look the same. Doesn't matter if it's a 442 or not. Same vacuum motor. On both replacement parts whether it's GM or BW, the cover doesn't have any stampings in it, and instead of tack welding it on, it has a screw hole for a mounting screw to go into.

$26 each plus applicable tax on fleabay. You'll need 2 for the 442 air cleaner.

Thanks, I knew they had to be serviceable at some point. GM and parts store cataloging is constantly changing and being pruned/updated with completely wrong information.

It's not necessarily wrong, if they're simply listing it as unavailable. That's one thing, because GM hasn't sold them in quite a while. But you can find them other places. But if they're telling you they never sold them separately, they're full of crap.
