A friend of mine wants to put an Olds 350 into his car,an 87 cutlass, and wanted me to ask you knowledgeable guys a question. He also wants to replace the belts, hoses, etc as they are mostly all original parts, and look pretty worn. The question he asks is how much replacing is too much? Should he tell the shop he is going to use to replace it all or only worn parts? The shop manager seems on the up and up but we all know that telling someone to just go ahead and work can add up to unneeded work done.
Any suggestions?

I would only replace what is worn. Have the manager let him know what needs to be changed before he does anything and get the ok from your friend to do the work.

Thanks for reply Dan but all don't matter know because his dad said not to waste his time putting in a new engine,he instead bought the guy a '87 MonteSS!!He is offering the car to me but I have no clue as to rebuilding an engine and no way am I paying someone to do it. It will prob go to the junker. lol
