I have a leak coming from the selector shaft on my new transmission. I bought the puller tool and a new seal. Finding the seal was difficult, because it does match my vehicle year.

Questions:
Are the seals all the same, looks like the sku is only slightly different?
Will I have to catch a stream of fluid from the bore after it's pulled?
Should I drain the pan first?
Anything else?

ive only done it with the pan off having to pull out the shaft. never done it with that tool before but ive heard about. just dont change that seal to much so i never felt the need to replace it. and i would pull the pan to throw a new filter in since im gonna be working under the car. and im sure u will get a little seepage when u pull that old seal. good luck

Just got the seals and the tool today. I will try to get this done this weekend and post pics. Funny though, I went ahead and bought 3 of the selector seals (partsgeek.com). One of the boxes had a pair of o-rings! Whatever... NOS, i guess that someone forgot to check. I have 2 seals if something goes wrong the first time.
