guys, for my 78 Monte, doing the restoration, have you disassembled yours, repainted then use again or does someone make these new and just replace? Also, anyone use aftermarket pedals they like vs original items? Thx

I'd get the black oxide dip from Eastwoods before disassembling the the pedal and bracket. First, soak the whole thing in rust dissolver, then rinse and dry, then dip in the coating. Turns black before your eyes.

Ok, so I get first 2 steps(I'll buy the Eastwood product)... Do you then disassemble this or just leave as is?

I cleaned mine up in solvent to get the old grease and crap off of it, then soaked it in EvapoRust, them epoxy primed black and painted black. After the paint cured, I used a synthetic grease to lubricate the moving parts.

I had to go thorough with mine since it was loaded with aluminum oxide from blasting the body, and I forgot to remove the pedal. :blam:

yeah same method used as above ocd builders😉 i have a couple already took apart/removed from bodies if you need one there george.
