Some of the plastic parts in my interior are sun damaged and in pretty poor shape. Some of the pieces that aren't too bad can be recolored with SEM dye. On the ones that are real bad, I'm thinking about using spray contact cement and covering the pieces with vinyl. I'll be using a heat gun to form the vinyl. Does anyone have any suggestions or info?

Someone else on here sanded them down a bit and then sprayed the whole thing with bedliner or something like that. Seems like a pretty good idea. It would probably hold up better than vinyl.

Hey thanks! The bedliner sounds like a great idea. My interior is shadow blue. I'm wondering if I can use the vinyl dye over the bedliner? I'll have test it out on a scrap piece.

come on people this is the interior were talking about here! go with the vinyl or any other "material" for this.use the bedliner for a sound/heat deadner underneth the "upolstered"panels.

Yea,test it. Maybe even test some of those texture sprays that are used for dashboad repair. You might be able to spray the beadline to get it some big texture, then spray some dash repair texture on it to get it small texture. Then slightly touch it with fine sandpaper to level it out and give it an OEM appearance. Then spray it with SEM.

Maybe it will work. Maybe it won't Might be worth a try, though... or maybe something similar. I have some bad sun dried parts that I will need to do something with someday and this is what I have been thinking about trying.

The purpose of the bedliner is for the purpose of building up the plastic where it has to be sanded down due to sun rot. If you have a better suggestion I am all ears.
