It is possible you have a bad lobe on cam. If you over tighten a lifters it will not even start due to valves hanging open and it wont make any noise. A loose rocker makes noise. I would bet its time for a cam change.

god i would not. that cam has like 4,000 miles on it. Someone at summit would be getting very nasty things in the mail. :evil:
 
I think i might have figured it out, im pretty sure its a bent push rod. for a while yesterday i thought it was the stud pulling out but i checked it umpteen times and it measures just the same as the others. so i switched the rod i thought was bad with another towards the back and the sound moved with it. I think it might have been rubbing the head, which i guess makes sense why its alot more quiet at an idle than going down the road. gonna buy eight new rods today just to be safe.
