Doug,
I used a product that's actually shredded denim with a foil backing. I glued it up there between the braces using spray adhesive. This stuff is like 1/2" thick. I used it on my floors, etc.
I purchased it from JC Whitney, but I believe Home depot also sells it.

Now, if I can only remember the name of the product.

It's called Bonded Logic.
