Anybody know where I can buy the rubber body mounts for g-body? I've found them on the OPG and Gbodyparts website but the price is almost twice if not more than the poly mounts...I decide to go with rubber because I've heard and read too many negative things about the ride quality with the poly ones.
i looked into getting the body mounts through gmpartsdirect and the price shipped was almost 2.5 times more expensive than the poly ones from summit or jegs. so the most economical approach would be the poly ones
I have the poly ones and am very satisfied with them. Then again, I don't expect the car to ride like a marshmallow either.
The thing to remember is that most all new cars are unibody, and therefore the frame is essentially solid mounted to the body. If you don't change the mushy springs and tiny sway bars your car likely came with, you will not mind the poly bushings. They also add chassis stiffness to the car by using the body structure to stiffen the frame. Plus, the long wheelbase serves to dampen the ride, and minimize some of the effects of stiffer suspension. The effect on the ride should be minimal, and you probably won't even notice it, unless you are princess who can notice a pea underneath a bed of 10 mattresses.
Not a princess, but this is going to be a driver not a racer, I got another g-body for that. To be honest he price is probably the same reason alot of other people went with urethane instead of rubber.
Well, I drove 40k miles in a year, delivering pizza in mine after I installed them. I didn't even notice them. Then again, I also installed 750psi front springs at the same time, so the bushings were not the reason for ride stiffness...
For body mounts poly is better than rubber no harmonics no harsh ride just a firmer more solid feel especially when the terrain gets rough like over rail road tracks. You just want to keep poly out of moveing suspension parts where it can bind. Its normally used but is actually not ideal in control arms for example.
rubber mounts are not worth a damn! they fall apart way to easy! think about how much weight you are throwing on top some rubber dounuts! i bought all polys for mine but i have not driven yet because the bosy is off of the frame. i ca tell you from being involved in g bodies for more then a decade and parting dozens of them out i have never seen a car that did not have a smooshed one. also if you use rubber and a couple fail but one doesnt it, on that good one it is possible that it will bust a hole through the frame, i can show pictures of this one. poly is the only way to go if you ask me.
