So I finally bought a replacement floor pan for my 1978 Buick Regal, and I need to start stripping down the interior.

Whats the best way to safely remove the carpet so I can put it back on when the floor is fixed?
I'm only replacing the front drivers side pan.

I have a dealer issued 1978 Buick Service Manual for reference as well, but if anyone here knows a better way to do it, that would be appreciated.

Remove the carpet totally because you may need to service other floor areas.
Be sure to treat the seat belt floor pan bolts and threads under body with PB Blaster or similar well ahead of time.
Take pics for reference of screw and bolt locations and sizes.

X2 on hitting the seat belt floor pan bolts with some PB Blaster... mine were frozen and stripped out when I tried to remove them. Had to re drill the floor to put my new seat belts in and not a lot of room to do so.
