Sanding camshaft??

I was wondering can I use some very fine sandpaper on a camshaft. The cam just have a lil water spots rust but cam came out of a new 350 barly ran like 500 miles

I'd use steel wool or scotch bright with some oil on it...

Or you can try some Mystery oil, that's what I have used before.

Sorry to say, if its pitted, its toast..it will wipe out the lifters.. 🙁 if its a roller cam you could by but the pits act as a grinding wheel over time.

If it's just water stained i would use a white scotchbrite pad with some type of lubricant. maybe a grey one if it's not coming off.
