Hey guys I was wondering if anyone here on the forum was running a 377sbc and I wanted to find some pros and cons about this motor. How come you don't see more of them, are they not desireable, or too expensive? How would a motor like this hold up against a 383 stroker or BBC, etc?

Thanks for any input.

Im pretty sure a 377 stroker is a 383 stroker without the .030 overbore that would bump it to 383. So it would be a 400 crank in a 350 with the stock 4" bore. I could be wrong...

I believe a 377 is a 400 block with a 350 crank. You are destroking the motor. Doesn't make sense to me at all why you would want to do that. i think they are torque monsters, maybe that's it. I just always thought cubes where your friend!

If you are talking about the 4.125"x3.48" version of a 377 they were a pretty popular combo with the circle track crowd. I've never owned one but always thought I'd like to build one. Big bore leaves room for big valves. Short strokes like to rev. I think they act more like a big 327 than a torque happy 383.

Your right. I found this to help answer your questions:

DRIVEN is right. They are a 4.155" x 3.48" combination and somewhat popular with circle track racers because they like to rev and are good then at making the horsepower, not torque, that a circle track car likes.
