Agree or disagree, but within 3 months, open carry law (with training) in SC will become a reality after years of debating and hand-wringing. The "good" thing, IMO, is they didn't get straight-up constitutional carry. While I'm a firm believer in the U.S. Constitution, I also believe when it comes to firearms and playing with stuff that can give someone the ability to kill others instantly that you should at least have some minimal gun safety training in order to carry a gun around with you. Responsible gun ownership hasn't gone out the window here.
And the icing on the cake is now the CWP is FREE (used to be $50) because the office of SC attorney general/asst. attorney general will be in charge of issuing them instead of law enforcement.
One neat part of the law basically makes SC a 2A sanctuary state.
This basically means that SC will flip the bird to any federal overreach when it comes to any attempt to infringe on an individual rights under the 2A. It would need to be legally challenged, not overrun.
This is about the Constitutional right for an individual to keep and bear arms and the win that SC finally got to have a more sensible open carry law. No more potential flaps over a shirt accidently popping up when you sit down exposing your concealed weapon causing you to "violate" your permit, etc., etc.

BY ADDING SECTION 23-31-250 SO AS TO PROVIDE THE STATE AND ITS POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS CAN NOT BE COMPELLED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO IMPLEMENT OR ENFORCE A LAW RELATED TO AN INDIVIDUAL'S RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS THAT LIMITS OR PROSCRIBES CARRYING CONCEALABLE WEAPONS UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES
