Pricey but nice. Now correct me if I'm wrong but the saginaw pump us our stock pump right? Also are those for shirt or long water pumps?

They come in both short and long pumps. I have a short pump which I believe is stock. I had an 87 corvette a few years back that had a long waterpump.
Yes, I believe the saginaw power steering pump is the stock setup. The one I put on is a summit brand black with chrome cap.

It is not too big. Popular hot rodding did an article a while back or was it hot rod magazine I cannot remember but anyway you can find it online pretty easily and they kind of blew the whole carb is too big myth away. Your 383 probably needs 700cfm anyway. Having a 100 more isnt going to hurt, you may have less throttle response than a smaller carb but my opinion is that is the only bad thing you would experience in your case.

I have read articles that say it would be too big and articles that say it would not.
I think even when they say it is too big, it will still work it's just a little harder to find the perfect tune.

I don't know how to tune a carb anyway. That's what neighbors are for. lol and Dyno shops.

Hard to say, original motor in my car was a 6 cylinder. I know there were different v8 engine options depending on which G-Body, what year and what country. I think the Canadian Grand Prixs with the V8 option came with Chev 305s. I don't know for sure but didn't the US cars come with Pontiac motors?
Anyway point is both the long and short water pumps could have been stock. The 305 that came in the 87 shell in my driveway had a short pump stock.

Long water pumps are stock. The short ones haven't been used since the late '60's give or take. Except for the Corvette.

That's funny. I actually didn't believe you so I looked it up and you are right.
I likely would have gone with a long water pump setup if I knew this when buying parts.
I have no idea why i thought the other way around. 😳
Good info, thanks.
