i was pullin the heads on my chevy 350 to take em to get cleaned up at the machine shop and i noticed on the pass side head there was a sensor. im thinkin it was a temp sensor. but why would u put a temp sensor in a head? anyway i told the machine shop just to plug it since im gonna run a aftermarket temp guage. i was just wondering if the factory did this or if some num nut put the temp sensor in the head.

if it is a single lead sensor its for the idiot light on the dash and yea its from the factory

on a side note most of them are on the drivers side where the connector is more than likely some one had the heads off and put them on the wrong side lol

makes sense. just wondering. like i said im pluggin that thing up. and i know u can put either head on either side. well on fords i know for sure. but i dont think that was the case with this motor. there are accessory holes only on one side of each head. and the other head had a plug already in stalled in the same spot.

Because it's a much more accurate place to read engine temp than right next to your thermostat.

Uh, because that's the hottest part of the engine? Because it's the part most likely to be damaged by overheating?

I guess in 20 years you must never have worked on a Northstar or a Ford Mod motor...

I think someone would notice that you can't put a Northstar or a 4.6 or anything with OHC...
