How gutlass we talking? You know they are only like 110hp with like 220ftlb of torque or something like that. You should be expecting old 4 cylinder performance out of it. Not v8 performance. Do you actually hear a miss?
I can't believe you would say that Chris, your 260ci Olds would do donuts all day long (in the grass)

ill tear it apart again and check the gears i noticed today my radiator was gurggling bad!!!! my over flow tank was empty but i know it was full the other day. theres no water in my oil and im not blowing any smoke what should i look for to get a olds 350?

If the motor is severly out of time....it will get hot quickly...and boil out the water. U need to check the timing with a timing light...and if need be, reset it. Start at 10-12 degrees BTDC, and go from there. 260 sbo's arent power houses, but if tuned right, they run as good as any late 70's/early 80's stock sbo. If the timing gear you mentioned caused the chain to slip, there may be a bent valve or a piston with a hole in it, or the cam may be shot. Sounds like it was abused at some point....and that may be the reason for the bad miss too.

Well there was that one time when I was able to pull off a couple sweet 180's.........in the movie theater parking lot......in winter.....with some snow and ice.

There's an old skool way to find a burnt valve. It's called a vacuum gauge. Hooked to a (intake) manifold vacuum port, idling warm, the gauge should be steady. If it (the gauge needle) bounces, pull plug wires one at a time, till there is little or no change in the idle. A compression check should "concur". That should help isolate a dead/weak cylinder. I had a 267 sbc original in my 79 elco. With hookers, an edelbrock, and a 390CFM/8007 HOLLEY, it was nice.
