hey Im going to be shaving the trunk on my 86 cutty what did everyone use to open thiers when they shaved it?

The simplest and cheapest would be a junkyard power trunk solenoid. Most GM cars from the 70's and 80's used a similar latch mechanism, so you're not necessarily limited to a G-body part. You will need some way to retain the tongue that normally clips to the back of the lock cylinder. Drill a couple small holes and use some small cotter pins to retain it so it doesn't fall out of the latch. Run a lead to a momentary contact switch, then to a "batt" terminal on the fuse block. If you get real lucky at the boneyard you may even find a switch that fits in your existing hole in the glovebox. Look for Regals and Cutlass Broughams-most likely to have a power trunk.

You don't have to drill any holes. When you find the trunk solenoid it just bolted in with one bolt. Just use that same bolt. And there's a tab on the trunk latch that you have to bend back as well.

ok does anyone know what car exactly to look for? or does anyone have a pic of what they are talkn bout?

What is "shaving your trunk"?

Is it something you do in the shower?

I wish I could've shaved everything on mine before it was painted... A little late now

Even found a windshield with the antenna in it at the 'yard...

Or you can do it the old school way and use a pull cable. Kinda like a choke cable. A buddy of mine did it to his '51 ford. He just laid the cable under his back seat. Cost him about $5.
