Any ideas...?

I have a 1983 Grand Prix, mild street machine. The TH350 trans has been replaced with a 700R4 (3000stall, stage2, lockup). This is heavily built, and set to auto shift at 4000rpm. However, for the strip, I need to shift myself to get ideal performance. And the stock shifter is just to touchy... My interior maintains a very stock look, and I want to keep my center concoul inplace. I know there are many shifters that I can mount straight to the floor, but I want to avoid that route to maintian the stock look interior.

My questions is, what rachet shifter can I install, without removing my center concoul?

Through research, I found I can use a B&M Mega Shifter for 3rd Gen Camaros, for a 700R4. They come with a mount plate that should adapt onto my center concoul. However, I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm?

Are there any others I could use that would adapt onto my center concoul?

Thanks

I fit the standard universal Megashifer into my stock Cutlass console . . .

Some trimming made inside the console, but nothing visible.

That's awesome too see. So far, I've only seen them fitted with the large black step-up spacer. I really like the clean look on your's.

I was also looking at TCI's version of the B&M Mega, essentially the same with less logos and engravings. I want a nice clean look.

I've heard there is a "long" and "short" handle version. One is "universal". Do you know the difference?

Did you run into any issues? Or was is just straight bolt in plate in the concole?

Thanks

No issues, just some minor trimming of some of the guts on the console, nothing drastic.

The only thing I'm going to change is the handle, I'm getting for the one with no logo also. No logos--I like it to look kind-of stock.

That's primarily why I'm looking to the TCI, as it doesn't appear to have any logos. However, it has a smaller knob thread, and I'm afraid I might break it. If I were to get a B&M, where can I get a new handle? Is it just a round bolt on (the stick appears rectangular)?

Are there any other logos on your B&M besides on the the handle? And does the panel say D 2 1? Or D D 2 1? In other words, does it show the overdrive D?

I used the universal B&M Megashifter as well. The difference is that the universal one is a bit taller, and the other is designed for f-bodies and is a bit shorter. It will work with both 3 and 4 speed autos, and there are both shift indicators included for whatever your application is.
