What shorty headers is anyone using on their 5.3 ls install? Looking at shorty headers to maintain/increase the low end torque. 1979 Malibu is going to be a daily driver. Was told by Speed Engineering that these will work. Thoughts?

I don't think the drives side will fit from the looks of it. Passenger side looks ok though. Driver's side needs to point downwards more.

some guys are using trailblazer SS exhaust manifolds instead of shorty's, cheaper than shorty headers and performance is about the same between the 2

You will not get a increase in torque with shorty headers , you need long tubes if that,s what your after . Shorty headers are better than stock manifold,s but not as good as long tube headers , they will still let it breath better a little help on the upper r p m range. May want to consider those manifold / cast headers above also . I have known people to have these on some decent hot rods with clearance issues and never even change gasket,s after 10 yrs on car , they do have there perk,s !
