I wouldn't black it out just darken it a little.
Mask off the chrome trim around the headlights but paint the buckets, Mask off the chrome on the grills and paint the centres, same with the tail-lights. Then pull the lower chrome trim and wheelwells and see if you like it.
I am thinking alongs the lines of the '85 ? 442 paint scheme where the chrome was left around the windows, bumper trim, and wheels.
IMO unless you paint all the stainless and chrome around the windows and bumpers ( which is a PIA ) the car doesn't look very good.
