Don't take my word for it, but I've never heard of an Oxygen Sensor on a non-computer controlled car. The Sensor is there to tell the computer to adjust the mixture.

Ok, cool. It looks like its coming from the exhaust, with only one thin wire coming from it. I don't see any wires going to the carb unless i'm going blind for a second and not seeing it. I'll check again tomorrow just to make sure. I'll also try to find out what this thing in my exhaust is. I thought a o2 sensor has either a thicker wire or 3 smaller ones.
I appreciate your help, as I've already lost a lot in gas and I only took it out for a real drive once. Other than that has been down the street no longer than 10 minutes round trip...

correct, oits only there for a computer. with no computer its just a plug for a hole in the exhaust manifold.

When I bought my '79 malibu, the previous owner told me he swapped the 2GL or whatever it's called for a junkyard Dual Jet on the 267 v8 and even being the worn out piece that it was I still always got 18-22 mpg with it...

BTW the primaries for the q-jet are smaller than the dualjet's "barrels" and as long as you dont lay into the secondaries like a maniac, you MAY actually improve fuel economy.

this is hugely dependent on your driving habits though.

jsut food for though...

Since i noticed the gas mileage was so bad, i've been laying off the peddle a lot. Anyone have any tips on adjusting this dual jet? I'm stuck with it for a few more weeks

there isnt much you can do with a dualjet honestly. it was a mid performer as a carb. it wasnt exactly a precise carb and did no one thing very well.

i hate it and i prefer a qjet over it. they SAY that its a qjet minus the secondaries and i can tell them that's utter nonsense. i've had 2 qjets and neither performed as badly as the dualjets ive used.

worst rochester carb ever.

look up the site cliff ruggles quadrajets , he is the master when it comes to thes quadrajets, either rebuilding them himself or buying his book and doing it yourself. if there is a quadrajet god, cliff is the man.
