I love the car even though I'm not a huge fan of nova's (there's also a big difference between a 9 second and 10 second car, that's not a 9 second car).

What is the deciding factor to be a 9 SECOND Car?

I could call an 11.93 car an 11 second car, but it's not. It's a 12 second car that bracketed out by a tick. You did a damn good job, not knockin it. It's just a tick under 10 wasn't what I expected from your whole get up about the 9 second car that's all.

So what ET would you have to run to be considered a 9 second car in your opinion?

Lol, let's not make a big deal out of this. Why don't you enter it in a 9 second bracket to see if it's a 9 second car. It's a damn fast car but I think you know it's a 10 second car. I think it would even be better to make it consistent at 10.0 something like you had those first two runs - that was even more impressive to me. It's not every day you see a car can run 10's on the dot consistently.

Well, I am glad NHRA thinks that its a 9 second car because they signed off on the paperwork for him to get his competition license to run from 7.50-9.99 in a door car.

I guess a 9.50 car is a 9 second car, but a 9.99999 car isnt?? If the time slip starts with a 9, its a 9 second car. Did you just finish off a drink of HaterAde? Sheesh, the car has 3 trips to the track with this combination in it, give the guy a break!

I said multiple times it's no big deal and I'm not hatin. Here's what I saw - a ten second car that bracketed out. I really don't care what NHRA gave you, that's what it is. When a car can hold it's own in a bracket then you can call it that. It's damn impressive to have a consistent 10 second car every time and you could win some good money that way too. Is that your definition of Hatin?

I gotta ask, what is this "bracketed out" thing that you are talking about??

Just so you know, NHRA does not race like that, with the exception of the "Super Classes" that are run at NHRA Division Races and National events. These classes include an 8.90, 9.90 and 10.90 class. Sure looks to me like he is alot closer to the "9 second bracket" than he is the 10 second bracket.

Real "bracket racing" allows the driver to pick the number that he things the car will run. Ole Derek (the car owner) is pretty darn good at that too. He has won the Gainesville Track Championship several times, won the South East DIVISION of NHRA (Division 2) and also was #2 in the entire NHRA for "bracket racing".

He has time slips that show a 9.xx on the bottom of them. To the rest of the world, that makes it a "9 second car". You can choose to call it what you wish, the rest of us will accept it for the 9 second car that it is 😉

Wrong, you just said that the 9.9 - 10.9 is a bracket. Does it sounds like that would include more ET's in the 9's or in the 10's? After you answer that elementary question we can move on to the subject of it being a 10 second car which is flat fast. But you can keep telling yourself you have a 9 second car. If you were looking for someone to give you trophies and congratulate you (which I already have because it was amazing), why did you post this vid on an 80's GM intermediate site? Why not go talk to the people that would be 200% enthralled with it?
