Can someone either talk me into or talk me out of these sidepipes WLK-89300 I have a motor being built and I'm looking at different options. I'm not necessarily looking for someone to make my decision, just some input on advantages or disadvantages, loudness, performance ect..

Thanks
BTW they would go on this El Camino

Well here's my opinion,, i really don't like the look of side pipes on a car but.........i do like them on vans and el caminos! yours is actually half a truck anyways! Nice car by the way! nice job! I think they would look kick *ss on your ride.

Thanks GP, You got a sweet ride too. That big block must push some serious torque.
I sold the crate 350 WITH the old exhaust that was in it. I have a 383 showing up soon and I need to do something quick, I refuse to run open headers to the muffler shop. I'm just concerned that the mufflers on that system aren't really mufflers, just tubes and I'd regret buying the side pipes.

You should run smokestacks!

Only if he swapped in a Duramax!

Sidepipes are lame. Only thing they're good for is burning your ankles...
If you put them on, you might as well over-fill your air shocks, put on rear tires that are so wide they stick out of the wheel wells, and two big CB whip antennas to top it all off... 😛

I thought the pipes on my El Camino looked pretty good coming out the back...

make sure you have the flappers on them too! don't forget the tennis ball on the whip antennas! to top it off mud flaps with the lady on them good stuff.

Well, thanks for all your unbiased opinions.
Blake, that's where I had my last exhaust system sticking out, just like 90% of the all the other El Caminos out there. Personal opinions mean nothing to me, it's my car. I asked for performance advantages what they sounded like.

I think that they wiuld look great, I would be a little concerned about clearance underneath when they are installed. As far as sound goes if they sound anything like the stock ones I had on my 67 vette you will love them. Deep and throaty.

Unless you have a van, corvette, or a mullet, I wouldn't buy sidepipes.
