side pipe question

The ones you are looking at seem to have a seperate muffler that runs under the car. The muffler is not built into the side pipes. It does say they come with the kit.

So you will need to fabricate from the headers back to the mufflers and then also buy this kit, http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... 4294847334

This will go from the mufflers in the sidepipe kit to the sidepipes,,,,,,hope this makes sense.

I think they will look great on your car,,,go for it.

I had hand built side pipes on a 83 camero sounded great ground clearance was an issue and so was getting burned everytime i got out of the car and the cops give me hell over them too.

I was just razzin' ya.... 😛

Well, we just put a set on a '77 T/A at work.
Sound wise, they sounded exatly like the worn out glass packs that were on there. I wasn't too impressed.

The way they're routed will determine how well they'll perform, but I don't think you would see any gains over a regular exhaust set up.

Clearance is the biggest thing I would be concerned out, they always look like they're just waiting to get smacked into the rocker panels...

i liked how they looked on my SS but i didn't like the loss of ground clearance. if you're at stock height it's ok, but with a 2in drop you will scrape on speed bumps. or you could clearance the frame.
if you decide to go with them i'll sell you mine. IIRC it's the same kit. $200neg +s/h

Hey Mega,
Height is not an issue. I purposely have my Elky sitting high. Not that I don't like an Elky slammed to the ground it's just not my style. Ref. the sale I'll PM you.

Thanks

i hate them on mine. i've had 'em on for a few years now, and they sound like *ss, they hit speedbumps, if you turn the tips down, they sound horrible and kick dust into the car. if you turn the tips up they fill with water.
i hate my sidepipes, and will be trading them in for some normal exhaust soon.
